Jan Pople is a language instructor who joined the Center for Language Education in 1996. She teaches undergraduate English courses in language proficiency and communication skills. Her professional interests include curriculum development, task-based learning and teaching, second language acquisition, teacher training, and language assessment. She was able to indulge all these interests in a recent large project she led: the development of HKUST’s e-core curriculum. This involved the design and writing of the University’s two semester-long English courses for the first year of the Common Core.
