“Toastmastering” is a term coined by Toastmasters International for public speaking activities organized by and offered to lay people for improving their communication and leadership skills in a fun and supportive way.
Toastmasters International, founded in 1924, is a worldwide educational NGO dedicated to helping its members improve their communication and leadership skills. Members come from all walks of life including business people, professionals and students.
The HKUST Toastmasters Club was chartered in December 2000 as a member of the Toastmasters International community. Many students and staff have gone through its programs to build up confidence and skills in public speaking in a supportive network. Many also developed lifelong friendships with others eager for personal development.
