Irene Ng is an instructor in the Center for Language Education. Since graduating from the University of Edinburgh with a Master Degree in Applied Linguistics, she has taught English language proficiency and communication courses; and has been involved in materials development. She is one of the co-ordinators of the Common Core English programme.
One of her areas of research interest is the acquisition of writing skills. She has worked on a funded research project in written communication, and presented papers on the acquisition of effective writing skills in a business setting. Currently, she is actively involved in the development of test items for the evaluation of vocabulary knowledge.
