Arabic is the mother tongue of a community in more than 20 countries across the Middle East and North Africa. A very important language culturally and in the business world, it is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. Modern standard Arabic is the key to understanding the history and culture of the Muslim world and its impact on us all, and the learning of a new script for which calligraphy is highly regarded presents a new, yet familiar challenge for Chinese learners.
